is currently working with a welcoming and inclusive school in Oldham that is looking to appoint a committed Special Needs Teaching Assistant to support four pupils with complex needs and challenging behaviour, including two non-verbal students.
This rewarding full-time role offers the opportunity to make a real impact by helping pupils successfully transition from part-time to full-time education within a supportive and structured environment.
The Role
As a Special Needs Teaching Assistant, you will:
Provide one-to-one and small-group support for pupils with a range of additional needs
Support the delivery of personalised learning and behaviour strategies
Work closely with teachers, SEN staff, and external professionals to implement tailored support plans
Help create a calm, safe, and engaging classroom environment
Encourage pupils' social, emotional, and academic development
Build positive relationships that promote confidence, independence, and participation in learning
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
Previous experience supporting children with SEN and/or challenging behaviour
Confidence working with non-verbal pupils
Knowledge of communication methods such as PECS or Makaton (desirable)
Strong behaviour management skills and a patient, consistent approach
A compassionate, resilient, and adaptable attitude
