How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Junior Laboratory Technician
    Location: On-site, Southampton – SO16 7NS
    Salary: £22,500 - £24,500 per annum, DOE + Excellent Benefits!
    Contract: 1 x Permanent and 1 x FTC Maternity Cover (up to one year)

    A Day in the Life and the Impact You’ll Make:
    As a Junior Laboratory Technician, you’ll support a safe and efficient lab by carrying out testing, performing calibrations, and ensuring compliance with GLP standards.
    You’ll maintain accurate records, assist with SOP updates, and work closely with your team on testing, equipment, and supplies, while also sharing results with clients. Your role is key to upholding quality, safety, and reliable laboratory operations as you build your technical skills.
    What You’ll Do:
    • Ensure the laboratories are maintained in a clean and safe condition.
    • Order consumable items and chemicals for use in study experiments.
    • Assist in the purchase of new laboratory equipment.
    • Conduct and assist other team members with testing in the laboratories.
    What You’ll Bring:
    • A strong work ethic
    • Methodical approach to tasks with good dexterity
    • Strong computer skills
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Office
    • Ability work on your own and within a team
    • Ability to follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s)
    Nice to Have:
    • An interest in science (chemistry/physics)
    • GCSE grade C (grade 4) or above in English, Maths and Science
    • Own transport
