How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    HVAC Technician
    Rail | Long Term Contract (4 Years)
    Equivalent Salary: £65,000 to £70,000 P/A
    Contract: Long term 4 year programme
    Location: Aylesbury and Banbury depots
    Hours: 40 hours per week -  7:30-15:30

    The Opportunity

    This is a long term opportunity to join a major rail programme, supporting HVAC systems on modern rolling stock across key UK depots.

    With a secure 4 year contract, this role offers rare stability in the contract market and the chance to build valuable experience within the rail sector.

    You will be working across operational depots, playing a key role in keeping critical rail systems running safely and efficiently.

    The Role

    Working as part of the service and maintenance function, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing and maintaining HVAC systems on trains and within depot environments.

    This is a hands on role where you will work both independently and as part of a wider engineering team on live operational sites.

    Key Responsibilities

    Fault finding, testing and repair of HVAC systems
    Planned and reactive maintenance activities
    Completing service reports and compliance documentation
    Working in line with depot procedures and safety standards
    Travelling between Aylesbury and Banbury depots as required
    What We Are Looking For

    Electrically competent HVAC engineer or qualified electrician with HVAC exposure
    Experience in service, maintenance or fault finding environments
    Level 3 qualification in electrical or mechanical discipline
    Strong diagnostic and problem solving skills
    F Gas qualification is desirable
    Full UK driving licence
