How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job Title: Fabric Technician

    About the role
    We're looking for a hands-on Fabric Technician / Handyperson to support a small portfolio of sites across Birmingham and Milton Keynes.
    This role is focused on general building maintenance and fabric upkeep, ideal for someone practical, reliable and comfortable turning their hand to a range of minor works.

    This is a mobile role covering multiple sites, with travel between locations required.

    Key responsibilities

    Carry out day-to-day fabric and general maintenance tasks
    Complete reactive jobs and basic planned maintenance
    General repairs including doors, locks, ironmongery, floor tiles and ceiling tiles
    Painting and decorating works as required
    Minor carpentry tasks and basic building repairs
    Basic lamp changes, filter changes and small fixes around site
    Support small works and minor projects when required
    Use a mobile device (PDA) to log and close jobs
    Communicate effectively with on-site teams and report issues as needed
    Always work safely and follow health and safety proceduresWhat we're looking for

    Experience in a handyperson, fabric, caretaker or building maintenance role
    Good all‑round practical skills with a "can-do" attitude
    Previous carpentry or fabric experience preferred
    Painting and decorating experience
    Experience working with fire doors is desirable
    Comfortable working independently across different sites
    Full UK driving licence
    Basic IT skills and confidence using a mobile phone or PDA
    Good awareness of health and safety requirementsWhat we offer
