How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Site Engineer – Piling (Short-Term Contract)

    Location: Birmingham (Aston Villa Stadium)

    Rate: £300 per day ltd

Duration: Mid-June start | 5–6 weeks initially (with return phase Sept–Oct)

Carmichael UK are recruiting for an experienced Site Engineer to support a piling contractor delivering foundation works for the North Stand extension at Aston Villa Stadium, Birmingham.

This is a short-term but high-profile project, with piling works due to commence mid-June. There is also a follow-on phase scheduled for September–October, offering further continuity for the right individual.

    Role Responsibilities:

Oversee day-to-day engineering activities with a focus on technical delivery and quality assurance

Manage cage call-offs and conduct cage inspections/checks

Review and maintain pile records (including CFA piling and mini-piling)

Coordinate with concrete suppliers to ensure smooth operations

Support site coordination with other trades, including demolition and RC works

Ensure works are delivered in line with project specifications and quality standards

    About the Role:

This is a non-supervisory role focused on engineering and quality rather than site supervision (SMSTS supervision is managed separately)

Opportunity to be involved in a fast-paced, live construction environment with multiple trades working concurrently

Potential for continuity between phases, with flexibility to keep the right candidate engaged between programmes (may involve short-term travel)

    Requirements:

Proven experience as a Site Engineer on piling projects

Strong knowledge of CFA piling and/or mini-piling techniques

Experience with quality assurance, records management, and technical coordination

Ability to work collaboratively with site teams and subcontractors
