SEND Teaching Assistant

We are currently working in partnership with a small federation of primary schools in Harrogate that is looking for a 121 KS2 Teaching Assistant to support a Year 5 pupil with special needs on a full-time, long-term basis for the rest of the academic year 25/26, with the potential for the role to be extended into the 26/27.

You will be required to work on a full-time basis, Monday to Friday 08:30 – 15:30.

Essential experience / skills

* Experience working as a SEND 1:1 Teaching Assistant with primary aged pupils

* A calm, patient, and confident approach towards behaviour management

* Ability to follow risk assessments and behaviour support strategies

* Strong communication and teamwork skills

* Commitment to supporting pupils learning and development needs

The role:

* Provide 1:1 support to a pupil with special educational needs throughout the day

* Supporting learning, engagement, and emotional regulation in line with individual support plans

* Work closely with the class teacher and SEND team to adapt activities and support progress

* Promote a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment

* Support school safeguarding strategies and policies at all times
