How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    A leading multi-disciplinary property and construction consultancy are now seeking a Graduate Building Surveyor to join their established Building Surveying team in Reading. This Building Surveyor opportunity offers exposure to a wide range of sectors including residential, education, industrial and commercial projects. The Building Surveyor will work alongside experienced surveyors delivering professional surveying services across varied property portfolios. This Building Surveyor role is suited to an ambitious graduate looking to develop a long-term career within Building Surveying. The Building Surveyor will gain hands-on project experience and full support towards APC progression.

    The Company?
    The successful Graduate Building Surveyor will be joining a well-established consultancy with regional offices across the UK and a strong reputation within the property sector. The Building Surveyor will work with a diverse client base including local authorities, universities, investors, retailers and commercial property owners. This is an excellent opportunity for a Graduate Building Surveyor to develop technical surveying knowledge while working within a collaborative and supportive team environment.

    The Role
    As the Graduate Building Surveyor, you will support senior surveyors across a broad range of professional and project work.

    The role will include:
    * Undertaking Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) surveys
    * Assisting with pre-acquisition building surveys
    * Supporting design and contract administration instructions
    * Preparing schedules of condition and dilapidations
    * Assisting with reinstatement cost assessments
    * Attending meetings and undertaking progress inspections
    * Supporting tender processes and preparation of contract documentation
    * Assisting with analysing and reporting on building defects
    * Carrying out building, condition and measured surveys
    * Supporting multi-disciplinary project teams across a range of schemes

    The Graduate Building Surveyor?
    You will be a motivated and career-focused individual with a genuine interest in the built environment and Building Surveying.

    The Graduate Building Surveyor must have:
    * A RICS accredited degree in Building Surveying or a relevant property discipline
    * A minimum 2:1 degree classification
    * Strong communication and organisational skills
    * The ability to work effectively within a team environment
    * A proactive approach and willingness to learn
    * Full Right to Work in the UK without sponsorship requirements
    * A clear interest in progressing within Building Surveying and working towards APC
