How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent
    Start Date: ASAP

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated SENCO to join a vibrant and inclusive secondary school community in Birmingham. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate education professional who is committed to ensuring that every student, regardless of need or background, is supported to achieve their full potential.

The successful candidate will play a key role in leading and developing SEND provision across the school, working collaboratively with staff, families, and external agencies to create an environment where all learners can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. This role is ideal for a committed practitioner who shares our values of high expectations, inclusion, respect, and continuous improvement.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Lead and manage the school’s SEND provision, ensuring compliance with the SEND Code of Practice and promoting inclusive teaching and learning across the school.

    * Identify and assess students with additional needs, implementing effective support strategies and interventions to improve outcomes.

    * Work closely with teachers and pastoral staff to ensure personalised learning approaches are embedded throughout the curriculum.

    * Monitor and evaluate the progress of students with SEND, using data effectively to inform planning and intervention.

    * Build strong relationships with parents, carers, external professionals, and local agencies to provide coordinated support for students.

    * Support and advise colleagues on adaptive teaching strategies, classroom support, and inclusive practice.

    * Contribute to safeguarding, wellbeing, and behaviour initiatives that promote a positive and nurturing school culture.

    * Deliver training and professional development opportunities for staff to strengthen SEND awareness and best practice across the school.

    * Maintain accurate SEND records, EHCP documentation, and ensure statutory requirements are met effectively.

    * Participate fully in the wider life of the school, including events, enrichment activities, and whole-school improvement initiatives.

    The Ideal Candidate Will Have

    * Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

    * Previous experience working within a secondary school SEND setting

    * Strong knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and inclusive education strategies

    * Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills

    * A commitment to raising achievement and supporting students’ holistic development

    * The National Award for SEN Coordination (or willingness to work towards it)
