How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    A leading multi-disciplinary consultancy is looking for a Fire Safety Consultant to join their growing Fire Safety team in Birmingham.

    This Fire Safety Consultant role would suit an experienced fire professional who enjoys a mix of site-based work, client advisory and technical report writing. As a Fire Safety Consultant, you will work across a varied portfolio of commercial, residential, education, healthcare and public sector properties.

    The successful Fire Safety Consultant will provide practical fire safety advice to clients, helping them manage compliance, risk and building safety obligations. This is an excellent opportunity for a Fire Safety Consultant looking for better flexibility, stronger project variety and long-term progression.

    The Fire Safety Consultant will join a supportive consultancy with a strong pipeline of work and a clear route into senior-level responsibility.

    The Fire Safety Consultant's Role

    The Fire Safety Consultant will carry out fire safety audits, fire risk assessments, site inspections and technical reviews across a broad range of property types.

    The Fire Safety Consultant will also produce clear reports, advise clients on fire safety improvements, support compliance with current legislation and work closely with internal design, building surveying and health and safety teams.

    The Fire Safety Consultant

    The successful Fire Safety Consultant will ideally have:

    Experience working in fire safety, fire risk or building safety
    Strong knowledge of the Fire Safety Order and current UK legislation
    Experience completing fire risk assessments or fire safety audits
    Excellent report writing skills
    Strong communication and client-facing ability
    NEBOSH Fire, Level 4 Fire Risk Assessment or equivalent
    Membership of the IFE, IFSM or similar would be beneficial
    Full UK driving licence
