How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Short Breaks Coordinator

    Hackney (Hybrid working)
    Contract: Initial 3 months (maternity cover)
    Hours: 36 hours per week
    Rate: £40.52 per hour (Umbrella) / £30.07 per hour (PAYE)

    About the Role
    The London Borough of Hackney is seeking an experienced Short Breaks Coordinator to lead the delivery, performance, and development of short breaks services for disabled children and young people.

    This is a key role within Children & Families services, responsible for ensuring high-quality, accessible, and financially sustainable provision, while driving continuous improvement and strong partnership working across the borough.

    Key Responsibilities
    Lead the strategic and operational development of short breaks services
    Manage and monitor contracts, ensuring compliance, performance, and value for money
    Oversee allocation and monitoring of significant funding (c. £900k budget)
    Line manage a small team, including support and finance staff
    Produce detailed performance, financial, and impact reports
    Work closely with finance teams to track spend and forecast budgets
    Handle escalations and resolve complex issues with families and providers
    Strengthen service user involvement, working with parents/carers and local forums
    Collaborate with partners including health, education, and third sector organisations
    Support commissioning activity, including tender processesAbout You
    We’re looking for someone with:

    Strong experience working with services for disabled children and young people
    Proven background in contract management and service monitoring
    Experience managing budgets and analysing financial/performance data
    Excellent stakeholder management and partnership working skills
    Experience leading or supervising staff
    Strong report writing and analytical abilities
    Understanding of commissioning, service development, and policy in children’s services
