How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Are you ready to play a vital role in maintaining and optimising the electrical and process control systems that keep our plant running smoothly?We’re looking for a skilled and safety-conscious Electrical Craftsperson to join our Maintenance team and contribute to the reliability and efficiency of our Cement Plant operation based in Dunbar, East Lothian.

    Main Responsibilities

    Within the role of Electrical Craftsperson you will act as a key member of the Maintenance team, focusing on electrical and process control equipment across the plant.

    The day to day responsibilities of the role include:

    Prioritising safety at all times, demonstrating a strong understanding of health, safety, and environmental standards
    Applying existing knowledge or quickly develop expertise in a wide range of equipment, including instrumentation, PLCs, DCS/SCADA systems, LV & HV motors, switchgear, control gear, AC & DC systems, variable speed drives, and specialised control panels
    Performing mechanical maintenance tasks such as bearing replacement and device alignment
    Be flexible with working hours, including potential weekend or split day shiftsThe Ideal Candidate

    Experience as a trained electrical craftsperson/process control
    18th edition certified
    Multi-skilled engineering maintenance experience
    PLC experience
    Strong team worker with the ability to work independently
    Good communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work flexiblyWhy Tarmac
