Mechspan are seeking a talented and motivated Logistics Engineer for Shotton Mill's £1.6 Billion Redevelopment Project. You will be responsible for leading continuous improvement across transportation and logistics operations, ensuring the cost-effective, safe, compliant, and sustainable movement of raw materials and finished products.
The role uses a data-driven approach to optimise transport spend, manage supplier performance, and align logistics activities with production and customer delivery requirements to achieve best-in-class service.
Key Responsibilities
Lead health, safety and environmental performance across logistics operations and third-party providers.
Support transport procurement activities, including tenders, supplier selection, contract negotiations and benchmarking.
Manage day-to-day logistics operations, ensuring alignment with production plans and customer service requirements.
Monitor and improve logistics performance using KPIs such as cost, OTIF, capacity, and compliance.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, cost reduction, service reliability and sustainability.
Maintain accurate logistics data, reporting, dashboards and CI plans.
Lead by example to promote a culture of accountability, engagement and continuous improvement.
Ensure compliance with company policies, ISO9001 requirements, and all legal and regulatory standards.
Person Specification
Essential Criteria
Minimum 5 years’ experience in a senior logistics or transport management role.
Proven experience managing end-to-end logistics and transportation operations.
Strong knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems (e.g. SAP, Oracle, Manhattan, JDA).
Good working knowledge of Transport Management Systems (e.g. SAP TMS, Aptean, Paragon, Transporeon, 3t).
Demonstrable understanding of continuous improvement methodologies (e.g. Lean, Six Sigma).
Experience implementing systems, processes, and performance improvements.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to maintain accuracy under volume and pressure.
Ability to lead, motivate and inspire teams to achieve common goals.
Capable of working effectively under pressure and consistently delivering against targets.
Competent user of Windows and Microsoft Office applications.
Confident use of email and intranet systems.
Full UK driving licence. Desirable Criteria
CIPS, APICS or equivalent supply chain or logistics qualification.
Membership of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT).
Experience working in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
Turkish language skills (desirable but not essential).
