How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Love teaching Science but fed up of feeling unsupported?

Looking for a school where behaviour is actually good, the department pulls together, and you can enjoy being in the classroom again?

At Smile Education, we’re working with a secondary school in Melton Mowbray that’s looking for a Science Teacher to join them from August 2026, and honestly, this is the sort of school teachers don’t usually rush to leave.

The leadership team are supportive without micromanaging, behaviour across the school is strong, and the Science department has a really good atmosphere. Staff work together, share resources, and actually help each other out. It’s the kind of environment where you can focus on teaching engaging lessons instead of constantly firefighting behaviour issues.

The school is open to teachers from all Science specialisms, whether your background is Biology, Chemistry, or Physics.

Whether you’re an experienced teacher wanting a fresh start or an ECT looking for a school that will properly support you, this could be a brilliant fit.

    The Role:

Full-time Science Teacher position starting August 2026, with flexibility to consider 4 days or job share for the right candidate
Teaching Science across KS3 and KS4
Opportunity to teach KS5 depending on experience and specialism
Full teaching responsibilities including planning, marking, and assessment
Long-term role with potential to become permanent
    Why Teachers Like Working Here:

Strong behaviour systems already in place
Supportive SLT who are visible around school
Modern Science facilities and well-resourced classrooms
Friendly department with shared planning and resources
    Staff wellbeing is taken seriously
Students who are engaged and want to learn
Easily accessible Melton Mowbray location with onsite parking available
The School Is Looking For Someone Who:

    Holds QTS
Can deliver engaging and practical Science lessons
    Builds positive relationships with students
    Has strong classroom management
Wants to be part of a supportive team rather than just another member of staff
Brings good energy and enthusiasm into the classroom
    What Smile Education Offers:

Competitive rates of pay between £180–£220 per day
    PAYE and Umbrella payment options
    Holiday pay at 12.07%
    Free CPD and training opportunities
Dedicated consultant support throughout your placement
Referral bonus scheme up to £200
If you’re a Science Teacher in the Melton Mowbray area looking for a school where you can feel settled, supported, and excited to teach again, we’d love to hear from you.
