The Opportunity

As a Data Solution Engineer, you’ll play a key role in the design and implementation of data-intensive platforms and pipelines for both structured and unstructured data applications.

You’ll work closely with multidisciplinary teams, technical specialists and customer stakeholders to develop innovative solutions using a combination of modern cloud technologies and commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) components.

This role offers the chance to contribute not only to customer projects, but also to the development of new capabilities, intellectual property and future technical propositions.
Job duties;

* Supporting customers in developing and evolving their data strategies and solutions

* Designing and implementing scalable data pipelines and platforms

* Building architectural views for complex data and analytics solutions

* Communicating technical solutions clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

* Working collaboratively within agile, multidisciplinary development teams

* Driving technical decisions and technology selection for data solutions

* Delivering solutions from early-stage concept work through to large-scale implementation

* Supporting capability development and identifying opportunities for innovation and IP creation

* Representing technical capability and solutions within customer communities

Person specification

We’re seeking someone with strong technical expertise, a collaborative mindset and a passion for solving complex problems.

You’ll be proactive, adaptable and comfortable working both independently and as part of a team. Curiosity and a hands-on approach to learning new technologies will be key to success in this role as we as;

* Degree qualified in a STEM subject (or equivalent experience)

* Experience designing, implementing and integrating data solutions within UK Defence or Public Sector environments

* Strong experience building data pipelines within cloud environments such as Azure, AWS or GCP

* Experience with data ingest, transformation and persistence technologies

* Strong understanding of structured and unstructured data concepts

* Knowledge of schemas, ontologies, taxonomies and data representation techniques

* Experience using Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) practices

* Experience working within Agile delivery frameworks

* Broad technical capability with the ability to rapidly prototype and solve problems
