How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    The Role Our client is seeking an experienced General Manager / Director to take full operational and commercial responsibility for the UK business.

    This role requires a highly self-sufficient and commercially astute leader who can quickly assess the organisation, identify opportunities for improvement, and implement scalable operational and strategic initiatives across the business.
    The successful candidate will oversee all core functions, ensuring strong alignment between sales, operations, engineering, production, and support services while driving sustainable growth and performance improvement.

    Key Responsibilities
    Provide full operational and commercial leadership across the UK business
    Conduct detailed business analysis to identify strengths, inefficiencies, gaps, and growth opportunities

    Oversee and align core functions including HR, business development, production, CNC manufacturing, machine shop, warehouse, and field operations
    Take ownership of both strategic direction and day-to-day operational performance

    Drive business growth through operational excellence and commercial development
    Ensure operational capability aligns with commercial objectives
    Lead workforce planning, recruitment, retention, and employee development initiatives

    Work closely with senior stakeholders to execute long-term strategic plans
    Ensure consistently high levels of customer satisfaction and client retention

    Proven experience operating at General Manager or Director level within the fire suppression industry
    Strong background managing multi-functional teams across operations, engineering, production, and commercial departments
    Demonstrable experience assessing businesses and implementing operational and commercial improvements
    Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
    Strong commercial acumen and operational understanding
    Experience within manufacturing, engineering, installation, or field service environments
    Proven leadership capability with experience improving business performance and developing teams
    Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
    Comfortable operating both strategically and hands-on where required
    Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
