How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    We are currently recruiting compassionate and resilient Residential Child Support Workers to join a warm, therapeutic children’s home supporting young people aged 10 and under.

    This is a rewarding opportunity for individuals who are passionate about helping children feel safe, supported and valued within a nurturing family style environment.

    About the Role

    You will support children with emotional and behavioural needs (EBD) within a therapeutic residential setting. The home focuses heavily on relationship building, emotional regulation and creating positive experiences for the young people through structured support and activities.

    The children attend school full-time and staff work closely together to maintain a safe, stable and homely environment.

    Shift Patterns

    We offer flexible mixed shifts including:

    * Weekend long days: 8am – 8pm

    * Weekend waking nights: 8pm – 8am

    * Weekday PM shifts: 2:30pm – 10pm

    * Sleep-ins also available

    What You’ll Be Doing

    * Building positive relationships with young people

    * Supporting children through emotional and behavioural challenges using therapeutic approaches

    * Using de-escalation techniques to manage difficult situations calmly and safely

    * Taking part in activities and outings with the children, especially during weekends

    * Maintaining a safe and secure home environment at all times

    * Supporting children to maintain healthy family relationships where appropriate

    * Reading and following care plans to understand individual needs, triggers and support strategies

    * Working as part of a 2:1 staffing team — never lone working

    Requirements

    * A calm, patient and resilient nature

    * Ability to engage effectively with young people and build strong relationships

    * Ability to manage challenging behaviours in a professional and supportive manner

    * Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle

    * Minimum 6 months’ experience working with children or young people (residential care, schools, youth work, SEN, family support or similar)

    * Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)

    * Applicants must be aged 21 or over

    What We’re Looking For

    We are looking for caring and proactive individuals who understand the importance of:

    * Using non-judgemental and compassionate communication

    * Being vigilant and maintaining safe boundaries

    * Understanding emotional triggers and therapeutic techniques

    * Creating a stable, homely environment where children feel safe and supported

    This is a fantastic opportunity to make a genuine difference in the lives of children while working within a supportive team environment
