How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    KS1 Graduate Teaching Assistant

Could this be the role that gives you the classroom experience you need before teacher training? Do you want to work with younger pupils and see how strong support helps them build confidence from the start of primary school?

    *** KS1 Graduate Teaching Assistant
    *** September 2026 to July 2027
    *** £85 - £101 per day
*** ‘Good’ 3-Form Entry primary, Ward of Hodge Hill
*** Targeted classroom support across KS1 to build confidence and raise attainment

    The Role:
Support KS1 pupils through a mix of 1:1 help, small-group intervention, and classroom assistance. You will reinforce phonics, early reading, writing, and number work, help children stay engaged in lessons, and work closely with the teacher to support day-to-day progress. Teaching assistants support the class teacher to enhance learners’ progress either in groups or individually.

    The Candidate:
You are patient, positive, and able to explain ideas clearly to younger pupils. You want practical primary school experience, enjoy helping children make progress in the basics that shape the rest of their education, and are keen to build the classroom habits needed for a future in teaching. Primary teacher routes in England typically require GCSE English and Maths, and GCSE Science for primary teaching.

    Requirements

Degree – A 2:2 or above in any subject.
Communication – Clear and confident verbal and written communication.
Enhanced DBS – Must hold or be willing to obtain an Enhanced DBS certificate.
Desire to work in education/with children – Genuine interest in supporting pupil progress and wellbeing.
Career Goals – A desire to train as a teacher and build a long-term career in education.
    The School:
This ‘Good’ 3-Form Entry primary school in the Ward of Hodge Hill offers the chance to build valuable KS1 experience in a setting where teamwork, routine, and purposeful support matter. You will work alongside experienced staff in a role that gives you direct exposure to early primary practice, intervention work, and the day-to-day strategies schools use to help pupils stay on track. National Careers guidance for primary teaching also notes that primary roles focus on the educational, social, and emotional development of children aged 3 to 11.

    How to Apply
Apply today with your CV to be considered for this KS1 Graduate Teaching Assistant role. Shortlisted applicants will be contacted to discuss next steps and arrange interview. Early applications are encouraged, as the school may appoint before the closing date.
