How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Paterson & Cooke UK is seeking a Pipelines Engineer to join our team and support the design and delivery of slurry, tailings, backfill, and water pipeline systems for mining and industrial clients worldwide.

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated engineer with several years of relevant experience who is looking to develop further in a specialist engineering environment. The role offers exposure to a wide range of project phases, from studies and feasibility work through to detailed design, procurement support and, where required, site and commissioning activities.

You will work as part of the European engineering team, collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams across our regional offices and contributing to the development of robust, practical pipeline solutions.

As a Pipeline Engineer, you will be involved in engineering calculations, technical reports, specifications, design documentation and coordination with other engineering disciplines.

The role would suit someone who is technically capable, practical in approach, and keen to build deeper expertise in pipeline system design.

For the right candidate, a flexible remote working arrangement may be considered, with regular attendance in the UK office as required.

    Tasks & Responsibilities

    * Undertake pipeline engineering activities for concept, feasibility, basic and detailed design phases

    * Perform hydraulic calculations and pipeline system assessments

    * Prepare technical reports, specifications, datasheets and design documentation

    * Support the development and review of pipeline layouts, PFDs, P&IDs and associated drawings

    * Coordinate with process, mechanical, civil, structural, electrical and control disciplines to deliver integrated designs

    * Assist with equipment selection and specification, including pumps, valves and associated pipeline components

    * Support vendor engagement, technical bid evaluations and review of supplier documentation

    * Participate in design reviews, hazard reviews and technical workshops

    * Provide engineering input during procurement, construction and commissioning phases where required

    * Maintain awareness of industry trends, new technologies, and relevant standards affecting pipeline design and operation

    * Contribute to solving practical engineering problems and developing robust, client-focused solutions

    Minimum Requriements and Competencies

    * Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or a related discipline

    * 4+ years of relevant experience in pipeline, process, mechanical, slurry or related engineering design

    * Experience in engineering projects across study and/or detailed design phases

    * Good understanding of fluid flow, hydraulic principles and pipeline system behaviour

    * Experience preparing engineering calculations, reports and technical specifications

    * Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary engineering teams

    * A practical, organised and delivery-focused approach

    * Strong written and verbal communication skills

    * Willingness to travel occasionally for site visits and project support
