How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    ACS International Schools Cobham, is seeking a Front of House Supervisor for the catering team. As an independent day and boarding school, the effective functioning of the team is really important as over 1,200+ meals are served daily, catering for staff and students aged 6 - 18.

    As front of house supervisor, you will be responsible for a smooth operation during service, front of house training and development of staff, dealing with customers on all levels, liaising with the Head Chef to make sure front of house and back of house are aligned, organisation of events and to follow all food safety and health and safety procedures.


    WORKING HOURS AND BENEFITS:

    • 07:30 - 15:30, 40 hours a week, term time only/42 weeks per year
    • The work pattern may include some evenings, weekends and bank holidays
    • In-person, Cobham, Surrey
    • Competitive supervisor salary plus other benefits including optional private medical insurance
    • Based at ACS Cobham but may need to attend cover, training, or meetings at the other 2 campuses in Egham and Hillingdon
    • Attendance of periodic training.


    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Overall responsibility for daily operations in the front of house
    • Ensuring the maintenance of service is kept to the highest standards
    • Liaising with the Catering Manager & Head Chef including ensuring all areas of the department align, making sure all procedures and policies are adhered to
    • Ensuring cleaning standards are maintained in the servery and the dining hall, liaising with cleaning supervisors
    • Line manage the General Assistants, provide guidance and ensure the team follow procedures so that service starts on time
    • To adhere to Health & Safety legislation and always follow in- house procedures and policies
    • To be responsible for the day-to-day organisation of the front of house: working directly with the catering team to ensure the operational standards are consistently high
    • Find ways to develop and improve services by looking at queue management, streamlining, student turnover as well as cleaning turnover
    • Liaising with the Cleaning supervisors, Catering Manager and Head Chef to ensure standards are maintained and front and back of house align
    • Weekly and daily briefings
    • Dealing with customers at all levels, being able to work well under high pressure and be able to problem solve calmly and efficiently
    • Ensure that all in house event set ups meet the highest standards
    • To assist in moving to a more sustainable catering environment by conducting good working practices
    • Identify ways to enhance service and increase efficiency
    • To assist the day-to-day monitoring and enforcement of our departmental HACCP policy. Ensuring that the maximum score is achieved in the Local Government Hygiene inspections
    • Communicate clearly with the Catering Manager and provide them with strong operational support
    • To be proactive when required to liaise with internal and external clients regarding all aspects of special functions, cookery clubs, events, and executive dining including running classes.


    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

    • Hospitality experience at management level is essential
    • Strong leadership and team management abilities
    • Have a strong understanding of standard operating procedures and attention to detail with a passion for delivering excellence in customer service
    • Exceptional organisational, and communications skills with the ability to interact effectively at all levels
    • Exceptional customer service, ability to handle high pressure situations, problem-solving skills while remaining calm and efficient
    • Ability to work flexible hours if required for events which may include evenings and weekends
    • Due to location, own transportation is highly recommended
    • Ability to work in line with the school’s values
    • Applicants must already reside in the UK.
