How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Location: Bowburn, County Durham
    Salary: £30,000 – £32,000 per annum (DOE)
    Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:30 – 17:00

    The Role

    We are seeking an ambitious and commercially aware Customer Service Supervisor to play a key role in the continued development of our customer service function. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced customer service professional who is looking to progress into a leadership position and help shape the future of customer support within a fast-paced logistics environment.

    The successful candidate will initially join the business with responsibility for supporting and improving customer service operations across both the home delivery and general haulage departments. With full support from management, the role will evolve into a Customer Service Manager position focused on establishing a dedicated customer service team, implementing efficient systems and processes, and driving service standards across the business.

    Key Responsibilities

    *

    Act as the main point of contact for customer enquiries across home delivery and general haulage operations.

    *

    Manage customer communication relating to deliveries, collections, service updates, delays, and operational issues.

    *

    Build and maintain strong professional relationships with customers, suppliers, drivers, and internal departments.

    *

    Investigate and resolve customer complaints efficiently and professionally, ensuring excellent service recovery.

    *

    Work closely with the transport, warehouse, and operations teams to ensure smooth communication and service delivery.

    *

    Assist in the implementation and development of customer service procedures, reporting systems, and performance monitoring.

    *

    Support management in building and developing a dedicated customer service team as the department grows.

    *

    Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, customer satisfaction, and internal processes.

    *

    Monitor service levels and maintain accurate customer records and administration.

    *

    Produce reports and updates for senior management regarding customer service performance and ongoing improvements.

    Candidate Requirements

    *

    Previous experience within a customer service, transport, logistics, or supply chain environment is preferred.

    *

    Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage customer relationships professionally.

    *

    Organised and proactive with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced operational environment.

    *

    Confident problem solver with strong attention to detail and decision-making ability.

    *

    Good IT skills including Microsoft Office and experience using transport management or customer service systems would be advantageous.

    *

    Ability to work collaboratively across multiple departments and manage priorities effectively.

    *

    Ambitious and motivated individual looking to progress into a long-term supervisory and leadership role.
