How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Freelance General Foreman – Bridge & Viaduct Works

    An experienced Freelance General Foreman is required for ongoing bridge and viaduct repair / replacement works across Yorkshire.

    The role will involve supervising structural maintenance and heavy civils packages on highways infrastructure schemes, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with programme requirements.

    This opportunity is ideally suited to someone with a strong background delivering bridge refurbishment, structural repairs and highways civils works within live or challenging environments.

    Scope of Works
    • Supervising bridge and viaduct repair / replacement projects
    • Managing expansion joint replacement works
    • Overseeing bearing replacement and waterproofing packages
    • Supervising concrete repairs and structural refurbishment works
    • Coordinating subcontractors, labour and daily site activities
    • Ensuring works are delivered safely, on programme and to specification
    • Supporting delivery teams with planning and sequencing of works
    • Managing site paperwork, permits and daily briefings
    • Monitoring productivity, quality and health & safety compliance
    • Liaising with Engineers, Site Agents and project stakeholders

    Requirements
    • Proven experience working as a General Foreman on highways or major civils infrastructure projects
    • Strong background in bridge, viaduct or structural repair works
    • Experience supervising structural refurbishment and maintenance packages
    • Good understanding of temporary works, sequencing and safe delivery practices
    • SSSTS or SMSTS
    • CSCS
    • First Aid preferred
    • Strong leadership and site coordination capability
    • Excellent communication and health & safety awareness
