How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    MPI have a requirement for an Aircraft Composite Technician to be based at RAF Brize Norton, Carterton, Oxfordshire, OX18 3LX
    This is a permanent role
    Rate of pay

    If deemed to have the experience the client may select the applicant for a Senior Technician role
    Working hours
    Mon-Fri Working Regime 40 hours per week
    Typically:
    x 2 weeks of Day Shifts- Monday – Friday, (08:00 – 17.00)
    x 1 week of x 4 Evening shifts Mon-Thu ( 16:00 – 02:00 )
    25 days leave plus 8 bank holidays.
    Overview of role
    Due to an upgrade of our contract, we are expanding our team. Do you have current working knowledge and experience of laminating, trimming or assembly of composite materials? if so, we want to hear from you!
    At RAF Brize Norton in Oxfordshire, our client has been providing multi-activity and engineering support since 1997. Our client proudly supports the RAF and MoD, supplying around 20 different services onsite, from engine and aircraft maintenance, to fuelling and ground control services. RAF Brize Norton is the largest operating base within the Royal Air Force, providing air transport and air-to-air refuelling to the RAF fleet, and as an Aircraft Composite Technician, you will contribute enormously to the vital work carried out here. You’ll also be part of the wider team, with 5,800 service personnel, 1,200 contractors and 300 civil servants on site.
    The bay is responsible for RAF Brize Norton C-17 aircraft structural and composite repairs. Work is carried out within the structures bay and on the aircraft, both in the hangar and on the line. The team are required to work at height and in confined spaces on the C-17 aircraft.
    Main Accountabilities:
    Current working knowledge and experience of laminating, trimming and assembly of composite materials. Including but not limited to, Carbon fibre and Fibreglass wet layups, vacuum bagging, hot bonder curing, damage assessment, scarfing, honeycomb core replacement, surface preparation and adhesive preparation and use.
    Competency to operate workshop machines and hand tools.
    Interpret and work from engineering drawings, technical manuals, and work instructions.
    Functional IT skills to access technical information and maintenance records.
    Document all work performed and maintain accurate records.
    Collaborate effectively with other team members and departments to ensure efficient workflow and high-quality output.
    Ensure that all repairs and rectification tasks are correctly certified and that records of maintenance carried out are correct and complete.
    What you need to do the job:
    Working knowledge and experience of laminating, trimming and assembly of composite materials.
    Will have successfully completed a recognised BTEC or NVQ or equivalent, or a course in advanced composite repairs.
    Previous experience in Armed Forces or industry on composite manufacture, maintenance, or repair activities.
    ***Our client will also consider applicants from candidates with extensive practical experience, particularly within the composites field, where many professionals have developed their expertise through hands-on work rather than formal qualifications.
    MoD Security Clearance. Due to the nature of the organisation, all employees of the Company are required to be security cleared to SC level. If successful in your application, we would support you with the SC process. As a guideline only, you would normally need to have been a UK resident for the last 5 consecutive years.
