This is a rewarding but challenging role supporting pupils with complex additional needs within a primary school setting. The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to provide consistent, tailored support that enables pupils to access learning and feel safe and supported within the classroom.
The role will involve working on both a 1:1 basis and within small group settings, supporting pupils academically, socially and emotionally throughout the school day.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Providing dedicated support for pupils with complex SEN needs
* Supporting children with needs such as ASD, ADHD, communication difficulties and behavioural challenges
* Implementing EHCP targets and personalised support strategies
* Assisting with emotional regulation and behaviour management
* Adapting classroom activities and resources to meet individual needs
* Building positive and trusting relationships with pupils
Requirements
* Previous experience working as an SEN Teaching Assistant
* Strong SEN experience supporting children with complex/additional needs is essential
* A relevant Teaching Assistant qualification (Level 2 or Level 3 desirable)
* Excellent behaviour management and communication skills
* Patient, resilient and nurturing approach
* Ability to remain calm and consistent in challenging situations
* Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)
