How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    A respected multi-disciplinary consultancy is looking for an Associate Fire Engineer to join their expanding Fire Engineering division. This Associate Fire Engineer position would suit a senior fire specialist who enjoys leading people, managing key clients and influencing the direction of a growing team.

    As an Associate Fire Engineer, you will take responsibility for major projects, technical quality and client relationships across a wide-ranging project portfolio. The Associate Fire Engineer will work closely with senior leadership to support team growth, mentor Fire Engineers and strengthen the consultancy's market presence. This is an excellent opportunity for an Associate Fire Engineer who wants a genuine leadership role rather than just a technical delivery position.

    The successful Associate Fire Engineer will be joining a collaborative, forward-thinking consultancy with ambitious growth plans.

    The Associate Fire Engineer's Role

    The Associate Fire Engineer will lead and manage fire engineering projects across the UK, overseeing fire strategies, technical design reviews, fire safety advice and performance-based solutions.

    The Associate Fire Engineer will also support business development, client management, team mentoring and technical governance, helping to ensure the Fire Engineering team continues to deliver high-quality work across multiple sectors.

    The Associate Fire Engineer will ideally have:

    Significant experience within fire engineering consultancy
    Strong leadership and team management experience
    Excellent client relationship skills
    Experience delivering complex fire strategies
    Strong commercial awareness
    MIFireE, CEng or working towards chartership
    Confidence reviewing and signing off technical work
