How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    SEN Teaching Assistant

    Location: Barnet
    Pay: £108.68 - £115 per day
    Contract Type: Full-time, Temporary to Permanent
    Start Date: ASAP or September 2026
    Commutable from: Lambeth, Merton, Richmond, Kingston, and Southwark.

    Long Term Futures is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join an inclusive primary school in Barnet. This is a full-time position with the flexibility of an immediate start or a September 2026 commencement, with the potential to become a permanent role for the right candidate. You will be responsible for providing tailored support to pupils with diverse learning needs, ensuring they can access the curriculum and thrive within a supportive classroom environment.

    Responsibilities

    Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN), including ASD, ADHD, and SEMH.
    Assist the class teacher in adapting learning materials and resources to meet individual Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
    Support pupils with emotional regulation, social development, and communication strategies.
    Work closely with the SENCo and external professionals to monitor and report on pupil progress.
    Foster an inclusive and positive learning atmosphere that encourages independence and confidence.

    Essential Candidate Requirements

    Proven experience supporting children with SEN, ideally within a primary school setting.
    A calm, patient, and empathetic approach to supporting pupils with complex needs.
    Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
    A proactive attitude and a commitment to inclusive education.
    A relevant Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning is desirable but not essential.
