How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Field Service Engineer

    £32,000 - £35,000 + Company Car (Personal Use) + Overtime + Bonus
    Northamptonshire | Field-Based | UK-Wide Travel

    An established and growing engineering business is seeking a Field Service Engineer to join their service team. This is a strong opportunity for a mechanically biased engineer who enjoys hands-on work, problem-solving, and working independently at customer sites across the UK. The role offers excellent earning potential through overtime, door-to-door travel, and a company vehicle for both business and personal use.

    The Role
    You will be responsible for servicing, maintaining, and repairing specialist industrial machinery at customer sites nationwide. The work is varied and technical, involving fault diagnosis, breakdown response, and planned maintenance. You will be trusted to work independently, ensuring equipment is returned to full working order quickly and safely.

    Key Responsibilities

    Servicing and repairing industrial machinery on customer sites
    Strip down, fault-find, and rebuild mechanical systems
    Diagnosing issues across mechanical, pneumatic, and basic electrical systems
    Carrying out planned maintenance and breakdown response work
    Supporting installation and commissioning when required
    Providing on-site technical support and customer interaction
    Completing clear and accurate service reportsThis is a field-based position, with engineers travelling directly from home. Workshop attendance is minimal and generally limited to parts collection or occasional support.

    About You

    Strong mechanical engineering background is essential
    Experience working with industrial machinery or similar equipment
    Basic electrical fault-finding knowledge
    Full UK driving licence
    Willingness to travel nationwide and stay away when required
    Confident and professional when dealing with customersDesirable

    Experience with pneumatic systems
    Electromechanical understanding
    PLC fault-finding experience

    £32,000 - £35,000 basic salary depending on experience
    Company car with fuel card, available for personal use
    Door-to-door travel pay
    Overtime paid at 1.5x up to 30 hours and 2x thereafter

    Typically 5-10 overnight stays per month
