How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    An exciting opportunity for a Software Engineer working within our Software Simulation department.

    Salary: up to £66,000 depending on experience

    Dynamic (hybrid) working: typically, 4 to 5 days per week on-site, dependant on workload classification

    Security Clearance: British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship

    Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. As a minimum and after offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS), which are managed by the MBDA Personnel Security Team.

    The opportunity:

    We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced, proactive, and passionate Software Engineer to join our Simulation Software team in Stevenage. You will play a vital role in evolving our software, focusing on delivering high-impact new features and enhancing existing functionality.

    The department provide a real-time environment, running simulations of the sub-systems to test the operation of the unit under test. The new product will allow the development of the simulations for existing and future projects.

    You will be working within a collaborative, versatile, innovative team and will be surrounded by supportive and passionate team members.

    What we're looking for from you:

    The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate their experience / knowledge in the following areas:-

    Essential experience:

    Technical Stack
    Languages & Frameworks: Expert in C# (.NET 9) and TypeScript, with proficiency across modern frontend frameworks (Svelte, Angular, Vue, React) and Node.js.

    Infrastructure & Tools: Skilled in Docker, Artifactory, and managing the npm ecosystem using Visual Studio, Jira, and GitLab.
    Core Expertise
    Full Stack Delivery: Comprehensive experience in the full SDLC, from designing innovative UIs to architecting complex, distributed backend systems.

    DevOps & CI/CD: Proven ability to build and maintain Linux-based CI/CD pipelines (GitLab-CI/Jenkins) for deploying containerised applications.

    Data & Fundamentals: Deep understanding of CS fundamentals (OOP, Algorithms, Design Patterns) with hands-on experience in both SQL and NoSQL databases.
    Leadership & Methodology
    Agile Engineering: Strong advocate for TDD and agile best practices to solve complex technical challenges.

    Collaboration: Effective communicator experienced in mentoring junior engineers and aligning with senior stakeholders across the business.
    Desirable experience:
    You have experience with other languages such as C++

    Linux sysadmin/DevOps/deployment
