How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    HSB Technical Ltd is a specialist recruiter within the Power & Propulsion, Shipbuilding, Shipping & Energy and Aerospace sectors. We have a number of permanent and contract vacancies for multiple businesses across the UK and overseas.

    The below job description will outline this position of: Marine Pipefitter:

    Typically, this person will be responsible for the fabrication, installation, and testing of small-bore pipework systems onboard marine vessels and within workshop environments. The role will involve working from technical drawings and schematics to produce high-quality pipe installations across a variety of materials, ensuring compliance with marine standards and client specifications.

    HSB Technical’s client is a very established and well-regarded business entity, operating within the marine and shipbuilding sector, delivering high-quality engineering solutions to both commercial and defence customers.

    Duties and responsibilities of the Marine Pipefitter:

    * Fabrication and installation of small-bore pipework systems in a range of materials including stainless steel, carbon steel, copper-nickel, and other marine-grade alloys

    * Working from technical drawings, P&IDs, and isometric diagrams to ensure accurate pipe routing and installation

    * Installation and maintenance of hydraulic pipe systems, including high-pressure lines and associated components

    * Assembly and installation of press-fit pipe systems such as Geberit Mapress

    * Measuring, cutting, bending, threading, and fitting pipework to high quality and safety standards

    * Pressure testing, inspection, and fault finding on installed systems

    * Ensuring all work complies with marine classification society standards and company quality procedures

    * Working safely in confined spaces and onboard vessels, adhering to H&S regulations at all times

    * Liaising with supervisors, engineers, and other trades to ensure efficient project delivery

    Qualifications and requirements for the Marine Pipefitter:

    * Proven experience in fabrication and installation of small-bore pipework within marine, shipbuilding, offshore, or heavy engineering environments

    * Strong knowledge of hydraulic systems and associated components

    * Experience working with press-fit systems (e.g., Geberit Mapress)

    * Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and isometric diagrams

    * High attention to detail with a strong focus on quality workmanship

    * Relevant engineering apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering / Pipefitting (desirable)

    * Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
