How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Connect it Utility Services is a leading provider of multi-utility connections in the UK. With a commitment to delivering excellence in utility services, we specialize in electric, water and gas infrastructure for residential, commercial, and industrial developments as well as projects for network operators and commercial EV charging installs. We deliver safe, compliant and high‑quality electrical distribution services to our clients, working in partnership with major DNOs to support network resilience and customer satisfaction.

As our overhead line workload continues to grow on the SSEN Distribution Network framework, we are looking for an experienced Overhead Lines Project Manager to take full ownership of the planning, leadership and delivery of LV, 11kV and up to 33kV overhead line schemes.

This is an opportunity to play a key role in driving performance, safety and continuous improvement across our overhead line operations.

    Responsibilities

    * Take full accountability for overhead line projects from acceptance through to completion and handover

    * Manage multiple concurrent schemes, ensuring programme milestones, quality standards and customer commitments are met

    * Monitor site progress through supervisors and delivery teams, proactively addressing risks and performance issues

    * Ensure accurate completion, defect resolution and timely close‑out in line with SSEN contractual requirements

    * Compliance with CDM regulations, SSEN standards and internal SHEQ requirements

    * Review scopes, site visit outputs, drawings and design information to confirm constructability and risk controls

    * Ensure all pre‑construction documentation is in place, including RAMS, permits, booking requests, material schedules and statutory approvals

    * Maintain accurate, audit‑ready project records including documentation, photographs and communications

    * Manage commercial performance in conjunction with commercial teams, identifying scope changes, compensation events and cost recovery opportunities

    * Build and maintain effective working relationships with SSEN stakeholders, providing clear and timely progress updates

    * Coordinate with planning, civils, streetworks and design teams to resolve access issues, clashes and statutory constraints

    * Plan and coordinate resource requirements across projects, ensuring effective allocation of supervisors and delivery teams

    * Provide leadership and technical support to Overhead Line Supervisors, resolving delivery, safety and technical challenges

    * Escalate capacity constraints, programme risks and safety concerns to senior management in a structured and timely manner

    * Champion a strong safety‑led culture across all overhead line activities

    * Review incidents, near misses and performance data, driving corrective actions and improvement initiatives

    * Promote lessons learned, standardisation and best practice across delivery teams

    Skills Required

    * Proven experience managing overhead line or electrical infrastructure projects on LV, 11kV and up to 33kV networks

    * Strong understanding of SSEN framework requirements, DNO delivery models and regulatory obligations

    * Demonstrated commercial and contractual awareness, including change control and cost management

    * Ability to plan, prioritise and manage multiple projects with competing demands

    * Strong leadership capability with experience managing supervisory and site‑based teams

    * High proficiency in project controls, reporting and performance management systems

    * Confident communicator able to engage effectively with operational teams and senior client stakeholders

    Educational Requirements

    * Degree or equivalent qualification in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management or a related discipline, or significant relevant industry experience

    * Extensive project management experience within utilities, power distribution or infrastructure environments

    * Formal project management accreditation (APM or equivalent) desirable

    * Valid CSCS or equivalent industry safety certification (where applicable)

    * Full UK driving licence essential
