How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Cable Jointing Instructor (Full Training Provided)

    Manchester

    £50'000-£70'000 + Pension + Training + Progression + Holiday + Expenses

Are you an experienced Cable Jointer from an electricity transmission or distribution background looking to come off the tools and move into a structured, long-term career?

Do you have experience working on electricity networks within a DNO, transmission/distribution contractor or major power and energy organisation and want to use that knowledge to develop the next generation of engineers?

This organisation is one of the UK's leading technical training providers within the energy and utilities sector. Working closely with major industry companies, they deliver specialist training across electricity distribution and transmission, investing heavily in modern facilities, equipment and instructor development to ensure their training reflects real-world industry standards.

In this role, you will support and deliver training across LV and 11kV cable jointing, assist with technical power engineering qualifications and assess learners against national standards. You will play a key role in developing engineers entering and progressing within the electricity transmission and distribution industry while building your own long-term career within training and education.

Full training and support will be provided, including teaching and assessor qualifications, so previous teaching experience is not required.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced Cable Jointer who can demonstrate direct experience within electricity transmission and distribution environments. You may have worked directly for a DNO or major electricity network, power or energy organisation, or for a contractor delivering cable jointing activities within these environments.

Candidates from organisations such as Northern Powergrid, SSE, Siemens Energy or similar electricity network and energy businesses would be particularly relevant.

Please note that this position requires direct electricity transmission/distribution experience. Rail power, telecommunications power or other power-related disciplines alone are not considered directly transferable unless accompanied by relevant electricity T&D experience.

This is a fantastic opportunity to step away from a physically demanding site-based role without losing the value of your industry experience. You will receive full training to become an instructor while benefiting from long-term stability, career progression and improved work-life balance.

    The Role

*Deliver training across LV and 11kV cable jointing
*Support technical certificates within power engineering
*Assess learners against NVQ, Diploma and End Point Assessment standards
*Design and develop technical training materials and packages
*Deliver compliance and safety training relating to electricity distribution activities
*Support learners throughout their training and assessment journey
*Maintain training equipment and ensure industry standards are met
*Travel to customer sites and training locations when required
*Full instructor and assessor training provided

    The Person

*Experienced Cable Jointer with direct electricity transmission and/or distribution experience
*Experience working within a DNO, electricity network, major power/energy organisation or relevant T&D contractor
*Minimum 5 years' experience within cable jointing activities
*Strong practical experience of LV cable jointing
*Hold or have previously held LV Jointing Authorisation
*Level 2 qualification in a relevant subject (City & Guilds or equivalent)
Strong practical and technical knowledge of electricity distribution activities
    *Good communication and organisational skills
    *No previous teaching experience required
*Interested in moving from the tools into a Trainer/Instructor position
    *Full UK driving licence
*Motivated to build a long-term career within training and education
