How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

A great opportunity has arisen for an Associate Structural Engineer to join a rapidly growing engineering consultancy in their Farringdon office. This is a key leadership role offering the opportunity to influence project delivery, mentor engineers, and contribute to the continued success of the expanding London office of a wider national business.

The successful candidate will join a collaborative and technically strong structural engineering team working across a broad mix of sectors including education, residential, industrial & logistics, government (MoJ & MoD), leisure, hotels, commercial developments, and theatres. Projects range from complex new-build schemes to an increasing volume of refurbishment and adaptive reuse work, providing excellent technical variety. You’ll play a central role in leading project teams, managing client relationships, and driving innovative design solutions while contributing to the strategic growth of the London office.

Our client is looking for a confident and commercially aware Associate Structural Engineer who is ready to step into a leadership position. You will be comfortable overseeing multiple projects, guiding junior engineers, and acting as a key point of contact for clients. This role suits someone who enjoys both technical delivery and team development, and who is keen to make a meaningful impact within a growing business.

    What’s On Offer

Opportunity to take a leadership role within a growing London office.

Exposure to a wide variety of high-profile and technically challenging projects.

Clear pathway for career progression toward senior leadership/directorship.

Flexible and hybrid working environment that supports work-life balance.

A collaborative, design-focused culture that values innovation and creativity.

Ongoing professional development, including support for chartership and beyond.

    What You Need To Succeed

Proven experience in structural engineering design across multiple sectors.

Strong technical capability in materials such as steel, concrete, timber, and masonry.

Experience leading projects and managing multidisciplinary teams.

Proficiency in industry-standard software (e.g. Tekla, Tedds, ETABS, Robot, or similar).

Ability to build and maintain strong client relationships.

    Excellent communication and leadership skills.

Commercial awareness and a proactive approach to project delivery.

Chartered Engineer status with the IStructE/ICE, or close to achieving it.

A strong academic background with a BEng or MEng in Civil or Structural Engineering
