Veritas Education are working with a special school who are requiring a 1-1 SEN Teaching Assistant to support a student with complex needs and learning difficulties. The school is a supportive and inclusive special school committed to delivering exceptional education and care to children with SEN. Key Responsibilities:
Work closely with a designated student to provide tailored educational support and assistance.
Implement and follow the student's Individual Education Plan (IEP) to meet their specific learning needs.
Support the student in all aspects of their daily routine, including academic tasks, social interactions, and personal care if required.
Foster a positive and encouraging learning environment to help the student build confidence and independence.
Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to ensure a cohesive approach to the student's education.
Monitor and report on the student's progress and well-being to inform ongoing support strategies.
Participate in training sessions and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge.Requirements:
Proven experience supporting adults and/or children with complex needs is essential.
Personal experience supporting a family member with SEN/PMLD is also valued.
Level 2 Team Teach is essential, although this training can be offered by Veritas.
Safeguarding training is essential, although this training can be offered by Veritas.
GCSE English and Maths is essential.
Strong knowledge of SEN is essential.
Strong communication, empathy, and patience are crucial. The ability to handle challenging situations with calm and professionalism is a must.
A dedication to improving the lives of students with complex needs and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Willingness to adapt to the varying needs of students and the school environment.
A moving and handling qualification is preferred.
Candidates must hold or be willing to apply for an enhanced DBS upon registration.
