How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Produce mechanical and HVAC designs for commercial installation projects across a range of sectors and environments. Design heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems while preparing technical drawings, specifications, and associated design documentation.

    * Develop ductwork and pipework layouts for installation teams and carry out system calculations alongside equipment selections. Provide technical support and guidance to project delivery teams throughout all project phases.

    * Attend client, contractor, and design coordination meetings while coordinating designs with electrical, public health, and architectural teams. Review consultant specifications and project requirements to ensure designs comply with current British Standards and industry regulations.

    * Assist with value engineering, design optimisation, commissioning support, and handover processes where required. Produce and update as-installed documentation and work closely with project managers and site teams throughout project delivery.

    Experience & Qualifications

    * Candidates must have a minimum of 8 years’ experience within Mechanical or HVAC Design alongside a strong background delivering commercial building services projects.

    * Applicants should possess experience designing HVAC, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, or related mechanical systems and hold a Degree or Master’s qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a similar discipline.

    * Strong working knowledge of industry design software such as AutoCAD and/or Revit is required, together with a good understanding of current building regulations, HVAC standards, and coordinated building services design.

    * The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent communication, coordination, and organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.

    Desirable Experience

    * Experience working within healthcare, education, or government sector projects would be highly advantageous, alongside knowledge of BIM and coordinated services design.

    * Candidates with experience working within live commercial environments and phased installation projects, together with an understanding of energy-efficient and sustainable building services solutions, will be viewed favourably.

    The Ideal Candidate

    * The ideal candidate will be technically strong with a practical understanding of installation requirements and site coordination. They will be comfortable working collaboratively with operational and project delivery teams while maintaining a high level of attention to detail and problem-solving ability.

Hybrid working options are available following the successful completion of probation, alongside a company pension and additional benefits package.
