How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

If you’re a qualified plumber with experience in housing maintenance, who enjoys varied work and takes pride in delivering a high-quality, customer-focused service, this is a great opportunity to make a real difference to our homes and communities.

    About the Role

As a Multi-Skilled Plumber, you’ll deliver a responsive and high-quality repairs and maintenance service across WCHG properties. Plumbing will be your core trade, but you’ll also carry out a range of associated multi-skilled works to support efficient service delivery and ensure jobs are completed right first time.

You’ll work independently and alongside other trades, engaging directly with tenants, working safely in occupied homes, and ensuring properties are left clean, secure and in good condition.

    What You’ll Be Doing

    • Carrying out plumbing repairs, installations and maintenance in tenants’ homes and on construction sites
    • Completing planned and reactive works, including kitchens, bathrooms, damp and mould treatments
    • Undertaking associated multi-skilled repairs when required
    • Using hand tools, power tools and specialist equipment safely and effectively
    • Assessing jobs, planning work and requesting materials and parts
    • Communicating clearly with customers and delivering a professional, customer-focused service
    • Completing all job documentation accurately and on time
    • Working to agreed targets, service standards and timescales
    • Following all health & safety procedures and safe systems of work
    • Participating in out-of-hours emergency cover when required

    What We’re Looking For

    Essential:
    • NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) in Plumbing
    • Experience of multi-skilled housing maintenance and/or reactive repairs
    • Experience working in a building or construction environment
    • Strong technical knowledge of plumbing skills, materials, tools and safety procedures
    • Proven customer-focused approach with the ability to build and maintain good customer relationships
    • Good verbal and written communication skills, including accurate completion of work documentation
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
    • Ability to work to targets and deadlines
    • Full UK driving licence
    • Willingness to work at heights, in confined spaces and in varying work conditions
    • Flexibility to participate in emergency and out-of-hours work

    Desirable:
    • Experience working within social housing
    • Willingness to undertake additional training linked to the trade and role
