How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    An established engineering and infrastructure delivery organisation is seeking an experienced Senior EC&I Designer to support the delivery of complex industrial and energy-sector projects across the UK.

    This is a contract role and can be outside ir35.

    Suited to a motivated designer with strong experience in Electrical, Control & Instrumentation (EC&I) design, capable of producing high-quality technical deliverables while supporting junior team members and collaborating across multidisciplinary engineering teams.

    Key Responsibilities

    Produce safe, practical and cost-effective EC&I design solutions in line with project and company procedures
    Develop design deliverables including:
    Loop diagrams
    Block cable diagrams
    Schematic diagrams
    3D models
    Prepare associated documentation such as:
    Bills of materials
    Cable schedules
    Design packs
    Material requisitions
    Support proposal and project activities as assigned by the Lead or Chief Engineer
    Mentor and support less experienced designers
    Review and check drawings in accordance with internal quality procedures
    Liaise effectively with multidisciplinary engineering teams and stakeholders
    Ensure designs are developed with safety, operability and risk management at the forefront
    Promote safe working practices and ensure personnel are appropriately briefed and supported
    Requirements

    ONC / OND / HNC / HND or equivalent engineering qualification
    Minimum 4 years’ experience in a similar EC&I / industrial design environment
    Strong understanding of design working practices and installation requirements across industrial sectors
    Proficiency in CAD software and 3D modelling tools
    Experience with AVEVA PDMS is highly desirable
    Knowledge of UK engineering legislation, standards and regulations
    Strong communication and collaboration skills
