How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

You will play a key role in promoting a positive safety culture, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, and providing practical health and safety advice across HV construction, commissioning, and maintenance activities.

    Key Responsibilities

Provide competent health & safety advice on HV substation works, including live environments.
Support project teams with risk assessments, method statements (RAMS), permits and safe systems of work.
Monitor site activities to ensure compliance with company procedures, CDM Regulations, and industry standards.
Conduct site inspections, audits, and behavioural safety observations.
Investigate incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions, producing reports and corrective actions.
Deliver toolbox talks and contribute to safety briefings and inductions.
Liaise with clients, principal contractors, and subcontractors on health and safety matters.
Support the continuous improvement of health & safety performance.

    Essential Requirements

NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent) - NEBOSH Construction preferred.
Proven experience working as a Health & Safety Advisor within HV substations or the electrical power sector.
Strong knowledge of CDM Regulations, HSG standards, and electrical safety principles.
Understanding of high‑risk activities such as live HV environments, isolations, and permit systems.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage site teams.
Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to sites.

    Desirable

Experience working on 132kV and above substations.
    IOSH membership (TechIOSH or GradIOSH).
Previous experience working for a DNO, ICP, EPC, or utilities contractor.
Working knowledge of safety management systems and reporting tools.
