How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    We’re working with a growing and highly respected M&E Contractor who are looking to appoint an experienced Mechanical Estimator to join their expanding Pre-Construction team.

    This is a fantastic opportunity for a Mechanical Estimator looking to take the next step in their career, with a clear pathway into a Pre-Construction Manager role as the business continues to grow.

    The company delivers a range of commercial fit-out, refurbishment and M&E projects across London and the South East, with project values typically ranging from £500k - £3m. They have built an excellent reputation within the market and continue to secure repeat business with leading clients and main contractors.

    The Role:

    * Preparing detailed mechanical estimates and cost plans

    * Reviewing drawings, specifications and tender documents

    * Producing accurate take-offs and pricing submissions

    * Liaising with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive quotations

    * Working closely with the Directors and operational teams during the pre-construction phase

    * Attending client meetings and supporting value engineering exercises

    * Assisting with handovers to delivery teams once projects are secured

    What They’re Looking For:

    * Proven experience as a Mechanical Estimator within the M&E / Building Services sector

    * Strong commercial awareness and technical understanding

    * Experience pricing commercial fit-out and refurbishment projects would be advantageous

    * Confident communicator with the ability to work closely with clients and internal teams

    * Ambitious individual looking to progress into a broader Pre-Construction Management role

    Package:

    * £75,000 - £80,000 basic salary

    * 5% annual bonus

    * Travel expenses covered

    * Hybrid working available
