How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Red Kite Community Housing is a tenant-led housing association, owning and managing over 6,600 homes across the Wycombe district. Since our formation in 2011, we have built a strong reputation for delivering high-quality homes and services, with tenants at the centre of everything we do.

We are financially strong and hold the Regulator of Social Housing’s highest governance and viability ratings (G1/V1). As we enter a new phase of our strategic plan, we are seeking to appoint a Chair of our Development Committee to support our future growth ambitions.

    About the Role

The Chair of Development Committee will lead the Committee in overseeing Red Kite’s development programme and ensuring effective governance of growth and investment activity.

This is a key role in supporting the Board to deliver ambitious plans to increase the supply of affordable homes, including a target of developing around 500 new homes by 2030.

You will provide leadership and assurance to the Board on development strategy, risk and performance.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Lead the Development Committee, ensuring effective governance and oversight
    • Provide assurance to the Board on development activity, strategy and risk
    • Oversee new-build programmes, growth opportunities and investment decisions
    • Ensure appropriate scrutiny of land acquisition, partnerships and delivery models
    • Support alignment of development activity with organisational strategy and capacity
    • Contribute to Board discussions, offering insight and constructive challenge

    About You

You will bring significant experience in development, property or growth-focused environments, alongside the ability to contribute at Board level.

You will be able to demonstrate:

    • Experience overseeing development programmes and new-build activity
    • Experience as an Executive, Chair or member of a Development Committee within social housing.
    • Knowledge of land acquisition, joint ventures and Section 106 arrangements
    • Understanding of development risk, governance and regulatory considerations
    • Awareness of the commercial and operational drivers within housing development
    • The ability to think strategically and provide effective challenge
    • That you share Red Kite’s commitment to delivering homes that support thriving communities.

    Time Commitment & Remuneration

Time Commitment: Approximately three days per month, including meetings, preparation and development activity. Meetings are a mix of in-person and virtual.

    Remuneration: £9,500 per annum
