Red Kite Community Housing is a tenant-led housing association, owning and managing over 6,600 homes across the Wycombe district. Since our formation in 2011, we have built a strong reputation for delivering high-quality homes and services, with tenants at the centre of everything we do.
We are financially strong and hold the Regulator of Social Housing’s highest governance and viability ratings (G1/V1). As we enter a new phase of our strategic plan, we are seeking to appoint a Chair of our Development Committee to support our future growth ambitions.
About the Role
The Chair of Development Committee will lead the Committee in overseeing Red Kite’s development programme and ensuring effective governance of growth and investment activity.
This is a key role in supporting the Board to deliver ambitious plans to increase the supply of affordable homes, including a target of developing around 500 new homes by 2030.
You will provide leadership and assurance to the Board on development strategy, risk and performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the Development Committee, ensuring effective governance and oversight
- Provide assurance to the Board on development activity, strategy and risk
- Oversee new-build programmes, growth opportunities and investment decisions
- Ensure appropriate scrutiny of land acquisition, partnerships and delivery models
- Support alignment of development activity with organisational strategy and capacity
- Contribute to Board discussions, offering insight and constructive challenge
About You
You will bring significant experience in development, property or growth-focused environments, alongside the ability to contribute at Board level.
You will be able to demonstrate:
- Experience overseeing development programmes and new-build activity
- Experience as an Executive, Chair or member of a Development Committee within social housing.
- Knowledge of land acquisition, joint ventures and Section 106 arrangements
- Understanding of development risk, governance and regulatory considerations
- Awareness of the commercial and operational drivers within housing development
- The ability to think strategically and provide effective challenge

Time Commitment & Remuneration
Time Commitment: Approximately three days per month, including meetings, preparation and development activity. Meetings are a mix of in-person and virtual.
Remuneration: £9,500 per annum
