How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    We are currently working with a well-established civil engineering consultancy that is seeking to appoint a Principal Civil Engineer/Associate Director to join its growing Bath office.
    The business operates predominantly within the residential development sector, delivering infrastructure solutions for housing schemes across the UK. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious engineer looking to take the next step into a senior leadership role at a respected, growing consultancy.
    The Role The successful candidate will lead the design and delivery of residential infrastructure projects from feasibility through to technical approval and construction. The role will also involve client liaison, mentoring junior engineers and supporting the continued growth of the Bath office.
    Key Responsibilities
    Lead the design of highways, drainage and earthworks for residential developments
    Prepare and review engineering drawings, calculations and technical reports
    Manage projects through planning, detailed design and construction stages
    Liaise with local authorities, clients, architects and external consultants
    Mentor and support junior engineers and technicians
    Assist with client management and business development activities Requirements
    Significant experience within a civil engineering consultancy environment
    Strong residential development experience
    Excellent knowledge of:
    Plot levels
    Highway design
    Surface and foul water drainage design
    Proficient in:
    Flow / MicroDrainage / InfoDrainage
    Civil 3D or Site 3D
    Experience managing projects and leading teams
    Strong communication and client-facing skills
    Chartered or working towards Chartership preferred Package
