How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Join UKPN Services at the heart of one of the UK's busiest operational environments. We're looking for an experienced Electrician to be based from our Gatwick Airport and Regional Area office, delivering critical electrical installation, testing and inspection work that keeps essential infrastructure safe, compliant and reliable.

This is a permanent role reporting to the Site Supervisor, offering a salary of £48,465 plus a 3% bonus. You'll work as part of a team, or as a lone worker when required, carrying out Electric Vehicle Charger installations (including commissioning and testing) alongside a full range of LV installation, testing and inspection duties and HV/LV substation inspection activities. LV testing will be completed to the current 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations (BS7671), supported by relevant inspections.

You'll also complete inspection and non-intrusive diagnostic testing of plant and apparatus associated with the LV distribution network, fault location, repair and maintenance of LV assets, and installations, testing and inspections compliant with BS7671 and City & Guilds 2391, 2394 and 2395 requirements. Day to day you'll use appropriate hand-held IT equipment, carry out routine emergency lighting checks and remedial works, complete additional site visits to meet ESQC Regulations requirements, undertake substation small wiring (including SCADA and back indication), and complete HV and LV meter reading. You will provide immediate supervision of Maintenance/Project/Sub-Contract staff within your working party, assist the team with other maintenance and project-based work, and be prepared to support other sections when required (for example organisational changes or system emergencies) as determined by your skills, knowledge and experience. You will ensure all staff you are responsible for work to the Distribution Safety Rules and you will demonstrate and promote a strong safety culture.

Apply now if you're ready to take ownership of high-impact electrical work across Gatwick Airport and the wider UKPN Services area. If successful, you will need to undertake a medical and DBS reference check. Close date: 21/05/2026
