How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Controls Engineer – Industrial Controls / PLC - West Yorkshire Based

    £65k (includes uplift for working on an on-call rota) + 25 days holiday + training + access to company vehicle for site work

    Samuel Frank is recruiting for a Controls Engineer who has PLC fault-finding experience, to join a rapidly growing West Yorkshire based business.

    The company is big on training and development and because they’re small, the role will be diverse and offer the successful Controls Engineer a role with a wide variety of responsibilities and challenges.

    Key aspects of the Controls Engineer role include;

    * Service of control panels and automated production line equipment, mainly remote with some in-person support for machine breakdowns

    * Out-of-hours rota for remote support – 9 days out 28. This includes 7 days out of 28, covering an overnight on call rota. You’re not required to carry out any work during the day throughout this period and will be at home (Currently Engineers average around 2 calls per week when on call). This means you’re at home and not working during the day 1 week in every 4.

    * Controls Engineer will have previous PLC code interrogation experience (ideally with Siemens PLCs) and understand PLC logic – You don’t need to be able to program PLCs from scratch

    * Interrogate a wide range of electrical equipment

    * For the normal day to day part of the role - expect to be on site 2-3 days per week, typically day trips as most customers are located in Yorkshire or Lancashire.

    * The company has made it very clear that they’re very keen on personal and professional development. The MD has previously worked for companies who said they were big on training but didn’t deliver and he’s very keen to make sure his business delivers on its promise of training & development for the successful Controls Engineer.

    * Wide variety of work – servicing and carrying out breakdowns on equipment in a range of sectors, some cutting edge, some older legacy equipment, this Controls Engineer role will definitely keep you entertained!

    * Conduct inspections, testing and reporting of electrical systems

    * Relaxed environment working for a small company that’s more than tripled its turnover, year on year over the last couple of years.

    * Ideally have an HNC/D in Electronic and Electrical Engineering (or related subject)

    * 18th Edition – nice to have/desirable

    * Full UK driving licence – essential

    * Must be eligible to work in the UK without sponsorship

    The company’s base is commutable from Leeds, Harrogate, Wetherby, York, Selby, Tadcaster, Otley, Garforth, Castleford and Knottingley.
