How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Guidant Global is proud to partner with a leading UK Ministry of Defence organisation to recruit an experienced Production Test Engineer with a strong Electronic/Electrical engineering background. This role supports the testing and fault diagnosis of electrical and electronic sub‑systems and circuit cards throughout the production lifecycle. You will play a key role in supporting manufacturing test capability, ensuring delivery against programme time, cost and quality targets. An HNC in Engineering or equivalent is essential.

    Key Responsibilities:
    You will collaborate with a small team of dedicated engineers in a dynamic, yet friendly and inclusive manufacturing environment, where you will be responsible for the following tasks:
    * Provide technical support for manufacturing tests and diagnostics of weapon sub-systems at system and sub-system level.
    * Deliver Test Engineering support from concept through to Production Readiness and operational release.
    * Introduce and configure test facilities, ensuring compliance and producing specifications and operator instructions.
    * Conduct testing and diagnose failures in electrical/electronic systems down to circuit card or component level.
    * Implement corrective actions promptly to maintain production schedules and resolve technical issues.
    * Represent Test Engineering at Defect Review Boards to drive timely resolution of quality notifications.

    What do you need?:
    Essential:

    Minimum HNC level of Engineering qualifications or equivalent.
    Good understanding of digital and analogue electronic measurement and test principles, and fault diagnosis techniques, with demonstrable experience down to electronic component level.
    Awareness of electrical/electronic sub-system and system design, integration and test principles.
    Good verbal and written communication skills, including generation of test specifications, operator instructions and technical reports.
    Ability to plan and organise one's work according to assigned priorities.
    Advantageous:
    Knowledge of RF and Microwave technology at the subsystem level.
    Experience in operating manual and automated test equipment in an Electronics Manufacturing environment.
    CADMID product lifecycle for test equipment is desirable.
    Environmental testing would also be an advantage.
    High Voltage training/awareness.
    SAP Beneficial
    MS Office skills
    Familiarity with core equipment:

    Digital multimeters (DMMs)
    Oscilloscopes
    Power supplies
    Counter timers
    Signal/function generators
    Current clampsAdditional desirable experience:

    Vector Network Analysers (VNAs)
    Spectrum analysers
    Waveguides
    RF power sensors

    This job is at our client's site in Bolton facility, one of the North West's leading manufacturing sites for at least 25 years. The facility offers showers and bike racks and is near the motorway, with a petrol station outside. Amenities like an onsite canteen.
