How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    NES Fircroft are currently recruiting for a Site EHS Advisor for our client, who are a global, industry leader in energy technology, working on several major substation and grid upgrade projects across the UK.  

    Site EHS Advisor  
    Location: Edinburgh
    Duration: 12 months  
    Outside IR35  

    Role  

    Site EHS Advisors are responsible for providing primarily operational EHS support to the Site Manager and the site organization. They are expected to provide visible, strong, and active EHS leadership within the project, acting as champions for zero harm, environmental protection, a sustainable future, and wellbeing.  

    Key Responsibilities & Duties  

    Formally and publicly accept the role to provide visible, strong and active EHS leadership within the project, acting as a champion for zero harm, environment, sustainable future and wellbeing. Additionally, in regard to the project execution phases they will:  

    Dispatch Phase  

    • Verify hazardous substances and chemicals are stored appropriately.  

    • Ensure chemical assessments are available at the point of storage.  

    Construction / Installation / Commissioning Phases:  

    Site Inspection: Ensure all required notices are prominently posted. Initiate fire risk assessments. Ensure any missing or ad-hoc EHS equipment is obtained.  

    Site Mobilisation: Ensure the Construction Phase Plan, TMP, ERP, and RAMS/Permits are available. Set up EHS project folders and files. Establish project EHS Safety Representatives and ensure minutes are published and uploaded.  

    Safe Systems of Work (SSoW): Ensure all project personnel have read and signed relevant documentation. Identify non-routine tasks not covered by generic documentation. Provide technical EHS comments on contractor risk assessments and method statements.  

    EHS Site Registrations / Inductions: Ensure induction processes are followed for all personnel and client requirements. Ensure all inductions are completed before work begins. Control, issue, and track visitor PPE. Maintain EHS folders.  

    Competencies & Training: Verify all persons arriving on site have valid certification. Deliver site inductions and record them. Deliver project-specific EHS training and toolbox talks.  

    Site Rules Set up and operate project initiatives and programs as required. Monitor compliance and escalate non-conformance.  

    Communications: Implement safety communications. Organise monthly Safety Representative forums. Roll out general safety campaigns.  

    EHS Management of Subcontractors: Monitor subcontractor work against accepted RAMS. Report non-compliance to Site Management or EHS leadership.  

    Monitoring and Assessment: Conduct routine and non-routine inspections. Record inspection outputs. Report unsafe acts or conditions and log them in reporting tools.  

    Safety Observations & Incident Management: Receive and review safety observations and incidents. Enter observations into reporting tools.  

    Investigations: Gather information for accidents and complete initial incident risk assessments. Escalate significant incidents as required. Undertake root-cause investigations. Complete reporting workflows within required timescales. Provide feedback to the workforce on corrective actions.  

    Emergency Response Arrangements: Display emergency response plan details in site offices and welfare facilities. Communicate relevant contacts during induction. Facilitate emergency response drills. Monitor emergency equipment provision.  

    Reporting: Develop and issue weekly EHS site reports. Notify EHS incidents to the PM, SM, and Client according to project requirements.  

    EHS Documentation Records: Compile and archive all relevant EHS documentation throughout the project lifecycle.  

    Project Closure: Finalise archiving of project documents. Ensure closure of all incident management workflows.  

    Authority  

    • Empowered to stop work immediately if unsafe acts, conditions, or procedural  

    failings are identified.  

    Technical Competence  

    • Detailed knowledge of Health, Safety, and Environmental legislation for large  

    construction projects.  

    • Experience implementing EHS arrangements for Principal Contractor roles under  

    CDM.
