How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Maintenance Engineer (Electrical Bias) - Night Shift

    Location: Derby

    Rate: £40.00 - £45.00 per hour

Contract: Initial term until year-end (Strong potential for extension)

    Hours: Permanent Nights | 22:00 - 06:00 | Sunday - Thursday

    The Opportunity

We are seeking a high-caliber Maintenance Engineer (Electrical Bias) to join a fast-paced manufacturing environment in Derby. This is a critical role ensuring the reliability of plant machinery during our peak production period. If you are a night owl who thrives on technical problem-solving and wants a premium hourly rate, this is the contract for you.

    Key Responsibilities

Reactive Maintenance: Rapidly diagnosing and repairing electrical and mechanical breakdowns to minimize downtime.

Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM): Executing scheduled inspections and servicing on a variety of automated equipment.

Fault Finding: Utilizing PLC diagnostics (Siemens/Allen Bradley) to trace faults and restore production.

Compliance: Ensuring all work is carried out to strict health, safety, and quality standards.

    The Ideal Candidate

We need a self-starter who can work independently during the night shift. You should possess:

Qualifications: Minimum Level 3 (NVQ/City & Guilds) in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.

Experience: Proven track record in an industrial or manufacturing environment.

Technical Skills: Strong electrical bias with proficiency in 3-phase systems, motors, invertors, and PLC fault finding.

Reliability: A disciplined approach to working permanent nights and a commitment to the contract duration.

    Why Apply?

Highly Competitive Pay: A premium rate of £40-£45/hour based on experience.

Work-Life Balance: Enjoy your Fridays and Saturdays off with a Sunday-Thursday schedule.

Stability with Flexibility: While the initial contract runs until the end of the year, there is a very high likelihood of further extensions into 2027 based on performance and project pipeline.
