How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Bradford and Marsh are recruiting for an experienced Senior HGV Technician / Deputy Fleet Engineer to join a well-established specialist logistics and transport provider based in Middlewich.

    This is a rare opportunity for a senior-level technician to step into a hands-on leadership role, working closely with the Fleet Engineer and supporting the ongoing development and maintenance of a complex and bespoke fleet of vehicles and equipment.

    You’ll be involved not only in day-to-day workshop operations, but also in planning, quality control, and supporting the development of new and existing equipment to meet evolving business needs.

    Key Responsibilities in this role as a Senior HGV Technician / Deputy Fleet Engineer:

    * Plan and coordinate workshop capacity alongside the Maintenance Desk (up to 6 weeks ahead)

    * Supervise and work alongside a team of technicians within the workshop

    * Carry out pre- and post-work inspections, ensuring all work meets required standards

    * Create detailed worksheets and agree major repairs or costs with the Fleet Engineer

    * Monitor progress against plans and report daily to the maintenance team

    * Oversee parts and stores within the workshop

    * Conduct quality inspections on both internal work and third-party providers

    * Support and deputise for the Fleet Engineer during periods of absence

    * Attend weekly meetings to review maintenance plans and operational performance

    Requirements for this Senior HGV Technician / Deputy Fleet Engineer role:

    * Extensive experience (typically 10+ years) in an HGV Technician role, with supervisory or leadership experience

    * Valid HGV C+E driving licence (essential)

    * NVQ / City & Guilds qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance or equivalent

    * Strong leadership skills with experience managing or mentoring technicians

    * Excellent communication and organisational skills

    * High attention to detail and commitment to quality standards

    * A proactive, problem-solving mindset with a “can-do” attitude

    * Good understanding of legal and compliance requirements within the industry

    * IRTE membership and/or Transport CPC (desirable)

    Why Apply?

    * £40,000 – £55,000 per annum (DOE)

    * Company van provided

    * Monday to Friday day shifts (45 hours per week)

    * Overtime available

    * Opportunity to step into a senior, influential role within the business

    * Work on specialist and bespoke fleet equipment

    * Be part of a stable and growing logistics organisation

    * Long-term career development opportunities

    If you feel that you have the skills to be successful in this Senior HGV Technician / Deputy Fleet Engineer role, please apply now.
