How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Estimator
    £50,000 - £55,000 + Progression to Estimating Manager
    Peterborough - Office Based

    This is a fantastic opportunity for an Estimator to join a growing construction business operating within the insurance and residential refurbishment sector. You'll play a key role in expanding the company's project portfolio while working towards a clear progression route into Estimating Manager.

    This role will suit an Estimator who enjoys ownership, variety, and being part of a growing business. If you're motivated, commercially aware, and want to influence growth while developing your career, this position offers both responsibility and long-term opportunity.

    The business specialises in residential restoration and insurance-based refurbishment works, typically delivering projects under £100k. With over 25 years of experience and a turnover of £9.5m, they have built a strong reputation in the sector. As part of their next growth phase, they are targeting more complex works including MOD projects and larger refurbishment frameworks.

    You will manage the full estimating process from enquiry through to submission, working closely with internal teams to deliver accurate and competitive tenders across refurbishment and insurance-based projects.

    This role is ideal for an Estimator with construction experience, particularly within refurbishment or residential works, who is driven, proactive, and keen to progress into a leadership role.

    With clear plans for growth, this role offers a defined pathway into Estimating Manager, giving you the chance to build and lead a department as the business expands.

    The Role
    * Pricing refurbishment and insurance-based construction projects
    * Managing tenders from enquiry through to submission
    * Reviewing tender portals and qualifying incoming opportunities
    * Liaising with clients, architects, and internal teams
    * Supporting bid submissions alongside the bid writer

    The Person
    * Estimating experience within construction (residential or commercial)
    * Experience pricing refurbishment or insurance-related works
    * Strong understanding of construction methods and building processes
    * Commercial awareness with a proactive, driven attitude
    * Ambition to progress into a management role
