How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Duration: 6 to 12 months initially

    Role Overview

Our client is seeking a Senior .NET Engineer to deliver secure, high‑quality backend services supporting critical business initiatives. This is a hands‑on contract role within a modern engineering environment, combining technical leadership with delivery ownership across cloud‑native platforms and secure-by-design solutions. You will work closely with engineering, product, security, and platform teams to design, build, and modernise .NET services while setting strong standards for quality, reliability, and observability.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Design, build, and maintain scalable .NET services using API‑first and event‑driven patterns.

    * Translate requirements into clear technical plans, estimates, and milestones, managing risks and dependencies.

    * Champion secure engineering practices, including OWASP Top 10/ASVS, OAuth2/OIDC, TLS, and secrets management.

    * Mentor engineers through pairing, design reviews, and technical coaching.

    * Drive CI/CD best practices, automated testing, and deployment pipelines.

    * Establish performance, reliability, observability, and SLO standards, supporting refactoring and modernisation.

    * Collaborate with product, QA, platform, InfoSec, and data governance stakeholders to unblock delivery and pass security reviews.

    Skills & Experience

    Essential:

    * Strong experience with .NET 8, C#, ASP.NET Core, REST APIs, async programming, and dependency injection.

    * Azure cloud experience (App Service, AKS, Functions), containers, CI/CD, and observability tooling.

    * Solid understanding of secure coding and authentication/authorisation patterns.

    * Experience with modern architectures (DDD, modular monoliths or microservices, event‑driven design).

    * Strong testing discipline (unit and component testing, e.g. xUnit).

    * Proven experience working in Agile/Scrum teams and mentoring other engineers.

    Desirable:

    * Retail domain experience (UK preferred).

    * Performance/load testing and resiliency testing exposure.

    * Microservices design experience.

    * MongoDB and Entity Framework knowledge.

If you have the relevant skills and experience, please do apply promptly to be considered
