How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

We are looking for an Engineer or Senior Engineer to join the team, helping to design, develop, and support cutting‑edge life‑saving craft and systems. You will play a key role in ensuring these assets are safe, reliable, and ready when they're needed most.

Candidates who are not yet at Senior level will be considered at Engineer level, with clear progression opportunities.

    The role

You will work across the full lifecycle of vessels and associated systems, from concept and design through to testing, rollout, and in‑service support. This is a varied role combining hands‑on engineering, project delivery, and technical problem solving.

    Key activities

Provide technical support for the design, development, integration, and operation of life‑saving craft and associated equipment
Support the testing and rollout of new assets, including lifeboats, coastal vessels, and rescue hovercraft
Carry out engineering design work including CAD modelling (SolidWorks), calculations, drawings, and specifications
Ensure engineering activities align with established processes, standards, and asset management principles
Undertake investigations, fault finding, trials, and data analysis across operational sites, boatyards, and supplier locations
Manage engineering documentation, configuration control, and change processes across the asset lifecycle
Work within project teams to deliver against time, cost, risk, and performance targets
Liaise with internal teams, operational staff, suppliers, contractors, and boatyards
Provide technical support and guidance to operational personnel and volunteers
Contribute to research, development, and continuous improvement initiatives
Support engineering governance, including acting as a signatory where appropriate
Undertake additional technical tasks and projects as required

    About you

You are a practical, analytical engineer who enjoys solving problems and working in a collaborative environment. You are comfortable managing changing priorities and engaging with a wide range of stakeholders.
