How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Exam Invigilators (GCSE Season) – Southampton Area
    Location: Southampton & surrounding areas
    Pay: From £14.24 per hour (higher rates available depending on school and timings)
    Contract: Flexible, casual work during exam periods

    GSL Education are currently recruiting reliable, professional Exam Invigilators to support local secondary schools across the Southampton area during the busy Year 11 GCSE exam period.

    This is a fantastic opportunity for university students, graduates, or those seeking flexible part-time work, with full training provided and ongoing support from our experienced team.

    The Role: What Does an Exam Invigilator Do?

    As an Exam Invigilator, you will play a key role in ensuring exams are conducted fairly and in line with regulations. Responsibilities include:

    Setting up exam rooms in line with guidelines
    Checking student attendance and identification
    Distributing and collecting exam papers
    Supervising students during exams to maintain a calm and controlled environment
    Ensuring exam conditions are strictly followed at all times
    You’ll be trusted to remain vigilant, approachable, and professional throughout.

    Additional Roles Available: Readers & Scribes

    We are also recruiting for Readers and Scribes, which are vital support roles for students with additional needs:

    Readers: Read exam questions aloud to students who require assistance
    Scribes: Write or type responses on behalf of students as they dictate
    These roles require:

    Strong communication skills
    Excellent written English
    Patience, empathy, and a calm approach
    (Previous experience is beneficial but not essential – full guidance will be provided.)
