How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Behaviour Mentor – PRU
    Are you a resilient and committed Behaviour Mentor looking to support young people who face significant barriers to learning? Do you have experience working with students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and challenging behaviours? This Pupil Referral Unit in South Birmingham is looking to appoint a dedicated Behaviour Mentor to join their supportive and experienced team.

    As a Behaviour Mentor, you will work closely with students both in and out of the classroom, providing 1-2-1 and small group support to help them manage behaviour, regulate emotions and re-engage with education. You will build strong, positive relationships and act as a consistent role model, supporting students to make better choices and achieve positive outcomes. This is a rewarding and hands-on role that requires patience, resilience and confidence. Previous experience working with young people with SEMH or SEND needs is essential, ideally as a Teaching Assistant, Behaviour Mentor or Residential Support Worker.

    Job Role:

    Providing 1-2-1 and small group support for students with SEMH needs
    Supporting students with challenging behaviour in lessons and around the school
    Building positive and trusting relationships with young people
    Supporting emotional regulation and behaviour management strategies
    Working closely with teachers, pastoral staff and external agencies
    Acting as a positive role model to support engagement and progress
    Monitoring and reporting on behaviour and student development
    Contributing to a safe, structured and supportive environmentIn Return You Will:
